Statements from Government Officials

Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameus, stated:
“Supporting employment and creating job opportunities for all citizens is our top priority, and the numbers confirm this. Through DYPA’s targeted programs, nearly 53,000 jobs were created in 2024, setting another record. We place special emphasis on supporting young people, women, and the long-term unemployed, strengthening their financial independence, and helping reduce unemployment. At the same time, we continue to leverage resources from the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the European Social Fund, investing in professional training and integrating the unemployed into the labor market. Our efforts don’t stop here. We remain committed to expanding job opportunities and shaping a better employment future for all.”

DYPA’s Governor, Spyros Protopsaltis, emphasized:
“The focus we have placed on active employment policies in recent years has yielded significant and tangible results. Achieving a record in employment subsidy programs for the fifth consecutive year is not just about numbers. The 52,855 individuals who benefited from our programs and entered the workforce now have the chance to build a new career path. At DYPA, this serves as motivation to continue implementing our strategy with the same dedication—to further reduce unemployment and increase employment through targeted actions that create job opportunities for more people. At the same time, we support businesses with increased staffing needs and strengthen the country’s labor market as a whole.”
