The role of physical exercise in cardiovascular health was the focus of the “Exercise and the Heart” workshop presented on February 19.
The workshop, which was organized by the House Standing Committee on Education, featured eight leading medical professors who presented current scientific knowledge regarding the role of exercise in cardiovascular health, both in adults and children.
The topic of preventing sudden cardiac death and, more generally, acute cardiac events during sporting events was also developed.
The meeting was attended and addressed by An. Secretary Giorgos Mavrotas, representatives of the political parties of the Parliament who expressed their views, as well as many MPs.
It is noted that the latest bill of the Ministry of Education and Sports updates the health card of athletes and establishes the mandatory presence of a cardiac defibrillator in sports facilities.
