Substantial threats against the Republic of Cyprus, in light of the agreements signed with Egypt for the exploitation of hydrocarbons unleashed by Ankara, with Defence Ministry “sources” warning that Turkey will use all the powers it has as a guarantor power.

The “sources” called the agreements signed in Cairo in the presence of the presidents of the two countries, Nikos Christodoulides and Al-Sisi, null and void, adding that the “politics of usurping the rights of the TRNC by creating a fait accompli” continues.

The Turkish side argues that these agreements threaten regional stability and are detrimental to the Cyprus settlement effort and considers them invalid as they ignore the interests of Turkish Cypriots and violate their rights.

According to Turkish media, the same “sources” warned that Turkey “will not hesitate to use the powers it has as a Guarantor Power against the activities of the “Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus”, which threaten the security of Turkish Cypriots and the environment of peace and stability on the island“.
