Severe Weather “Coral”: Cold with rain and snow in the mountains on Sunday – When will the weather improve?

Temperatures will return to seasonal norms by the end of the week

Newsroom February 23 08:49

Biting cold is expected today (23/02) across the country as the “Coral” cold wave continues to affect Greece and the wider eastern Mediterranean region.

On Sunday, light snowfall is expected in parts of Central Macedonia, eastern Peloponnese, and temporarily in Thessaly and Evia, covering mountainous, semi-mountainous, and possibly even lower-altitude areas.

Snow will also fall in the mountainous and semi-mountainous regions of Crete.

By the end of the week, temperatures will return to normal for the season, though rain will persist for several days as successive low-pressure systems from the Central Mediterranean will first impact western Greece and then spread to the rest of the country, according to Theodore Kolydas, director of the National Meteorological Service, on Saturday.
