A total of 10 sick and injured children from the Gaza Strip have arrived in Greece, following an initiative by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and under the organization and coordination of the ministry.
The transportation of the children was facilitated through the activation of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, the World Health Organization, and the Egyptian authorities. Before their departure for Athens, the children had received medical care at the Greek Hospital in Cairo.
The patients and their guardians arrived in Greece on a special flight provided by AEGEAN.
The children will be treated in the country’s medical facilities, while their accompanying guardians will be accommodated in facilities operated by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
The operation involved intensive efforts from the Ministries of Health, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Migration and Asylum, and the National Emergency Medical Services (EKAV).
