SYRIZA on EODASAM conclusion: The government should have already resigned

The new defensive claim that government officials were allegedly not involved in the blockade, as they were there as "observers", is refuted by the government announcements at the time, Koumoundourou says

Newsroom February 27 07:09

“The government’s responsibility is presumed in many parts of the report, and the government should have already resigned,” Syriza’s said in a statement commenting on the EODASAM statement on the tragedy in Tempi.

In detail, SYRIZA states: “The conclusion of the National Organization for the Investigation of Air and Rail Accidents and Transport Safety (EODASAM), on the crime in Tempi, presented today, Thursday, February 27, is a mockery of the government of ND Mitsotakis and is inspired by the basic finding of scientists that, the “blocking” of the accident site “caused the loss of information vital to the investigation and the revelation of the truth due to the failure to protect and map the accident site”.

The government spokesman was quick after presenting the report of the agency, which the government staffed eight months after its establishment, to simply talk about failures in the field and rule out a cover-up with his usual audacity. It is obvious that the new defensive claim that government officials were supposedly not involved in the bungling, as they were on the scene as “observers”, is refuted by the government’s announcements at the time.

As for the pyrosphere, which was the cause of death of some of the victims after the collision, the presence of unknown fuel is mentioned as probable, while there is a clear reference to traces of xylene, despite the removal of soil from the site (bazoom).

It is clearly stated that silicone oils are not capable of causing pyroclasticity.

Government responsibility is therefore presumed in many parts of the finding.

Despite the efforts of the scientists and the struggle of the relatives, however, the politically delegitimized government of the New Democracy has, for two years now, systematically tried to cover up the revelation of the Truth, and thus the administration of justice, with acts and omissions.

The answer will be given by society, which demands Truth and Justice.”
