Following tradition, most municipalities in Attica will “honor” the celebration of Clean Monday today with Lenten dishes, music and dancing. The cauldrons and ovens in the municipal services worked at full speed to prepare everything from bean soup and seafood, to taramosalata, halva and of course the traditional lagana.

The open-air “table” set up by the municipalities, inside and outside the basin, will be waiting for the citizens to enjoy the day and for the children to fly their kite high.

For Athenians, the traditional focus will be Philopappou Hill, where there will be Lenten delicacies and the public will be welcomed from 11am by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens, while the musical baton will then be picked up by Giota Griva, for a genuine folk feast. The mayor Harris Doukas will also be present.

From there, the places where the municipalities of Attica have planned events, with Lenten food, music and dancing are:

Municipality of Agia Varvara at the Mitera Grove (from 11 a.m.) with traditional songs and dances.

Municipality of Agia Paraskevi at Pefkakia Park (from 10 am), with live music.

Municipality of Agios Dimitrios at the Asyrmato-Park El. Venizelos (from 11:30 am), with Sakis Kotsakis, Nasia Konitopoulou and their orchestra, in a celebration full of traditional folk and island songs.

Municipality of Egaleo at Egaleo Park (Barutadiko), from the morning the Cultural Clubs of the city will present traditional dances, while at 1 pm the traditional feast with George Velissaris will begin.

Municipality of Alimos at Pani Hill (from 10:30 am), with live music.

Municipality of Acharnon at the Olympic Village, with a traditional program by the orchestra of the Municipal Conservatory of Acharnon and with the participation of Thanasis Evtaxis.

Municipality of Vrilissia at the open theater “Aliki Vougiouklaki” (from 11 a.m.), where the Cretan Union will offer raki and the program will include dance and traditional music from Smyrna and the Cyclades with Vivi Vouchela and Yannis Karamanis.

Municipality of Byron at the Vrachon Theatre “Anna Synodinou” (from 11:30 am), the party will be accompanied by Yannis Lebesis with his orchestra.

Municipality of Glyfada at “Patitiri” (from 12 p.m.) with Konstantina, Stella Karida and their orchestra

Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupolis at the open fields of Militou Street, next to the Petrino Theatre (from 12 pm) with live music.

Municipality of Zografou at Gudi Park (from 11 am to 2 pm) with music, dancing and a carnival gazebo for children.

Municipality of Ilioupolis at Chalikaki Park (from 11 a.m.) with traditional music.

Municipality of Heraklion at Ktima Fix (from 11:30 am) with music and dancing.

Municipality of Kaisariani at Agios Giannis Park (from 12 p.m.) with traditional feast.

Municipality of Kallithea at Nero Square on the beach (from 11 am), with Vassilis Agrafiotis performing folk songs and Ioanna Legaki performing island songs.

Municipality of Kifissia at the park of Andreas Papandreou in Nea Erythraia (from 11 am to 2 pm) with the orchestra of the traditional band of Giorgos Dalianis and dances by the Association of Asia Minor and the dance department of the Municipality.

Municipality of Lavreotiki at Chaos in Kamariza (from 11 am to 2:30 pm) with the music band of Stelios and Yannis Manolas.

Municipality of Lykovrisi-Pefkis at the central square of Pefkis (from 11 a.m.) with Petros Imbros.

Municipality of Megareon at Nea Peramos-Alsaki (from 11 am).

Municipality of Moschatos-Tavros at the National Resistance Square in Tavros (from 11 am), with a folk-municipal feast with Panagiotis Lalezas.

Municipality of Nea Ionia outside the Conference Centre (from 11 am) with live music.

Municipality of Paleo Faliro at the beach (from 11 am) with many activities for children.

Municipality of Pallini at the Municipal Park of Anthousa (from 11:30 a.m.) in a traditional-folk feast with Nadia Karagianni, with the traditional dance groups of the Anthousa Recreational Association, but also with the choirs of the municipality and of the Anthousa KAPHs, under the direction of the conductor Alexandros Stoupakis.

Municipality of Penteli at Agios Georgios Square in Melissia (from 11 a.m.).

Municipality of Peristeri at the Exhibition Centre (from 11 am) with a traditional concert by Gogo Tsampa, an interactive theatrical performance, a puppet show and Karagiozis by the Shadow Theatre of Kostas Spyropoulos and the Guild of Bakers of Athens, Suburbs & Surroundings making the biggest lagana.

Municipality of Petroupolis at Agios Dimitrios Square (from 11 am) in a feast with the band “Sergiani in Tradition”.

Municipality of Saronikos at Anavyssos beach (from 12 pm) with a concert by Ilias Vrettos and dances by local dance groups.

Municipality of Filothei-Psychiko at the National Bank of Greece Grove (from 11 am to 3 pm) with a concert by Toni Spino, Antonella Cuellar & Playmate.
