US will inform us of results of today’s talks with Kiev, says Peskov

Putin's spokesman advised citizens to keep a tight rein on US moves that seem to favour Russia

Newsroom March 11 03:05

Washington will brief Moscow on the results of talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Jeddah today, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, told Russian journalists this morning.

“Today contacts between the US and Ukraine will be held in Jeddah. The American side, which is looking for ways for a peaceful settlement, will inform us in some way,” he said.

Earlier, in a speech at Moscow‘s Higher School of Economics, Peskov advised Russian citizens not to be overly optimistic about the latest U.S. moves that appear to favor Russia, hoping that Elon Musk will “cut off” Kiev’s access to the Starlink satellite communications system and that Trump will continue not to send military aid to the Zelensky government. “We must always hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. And we must always be ready to defend our interests,” he said.

Peskov made the remarks just hours before the start of a critical meeting of U.S. officials with a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia, during which they will discuss concessions Kiev is willing to make to end the war.

Peskov argued that Russia is achieving its goals on the battlefield, regardless of the decisions made by the United States. He added that the amount of weapons in circulation in Ukraine is so large that Kiev has enough to continue fighting for many months despite the suspension of U.S. deliveries.
