With a letter addressed to the secretary of the ruling party’s Parliamentary Group, Stavros Kalafatis, MP Dimitris Kalogeropoulos requested his exemption from the preliminary inquiry committee on the Tempi train disaster, citing health reasons.

The reshuffling of the New Democracy MPs participating in the committee continues just hours before the first session is set to begin.

According to sources, Kalogeropoulos submitted his request last Friday, asking to be excused from the committee due to health-related issues.

It is worth noting that Kalogeropoulos had originally been appointed as a replacement for Giorgos Kotsos, MP for Karditsa, who also withdrew from the committee, citing personal and ethical reasons.

Ultimately, Maria Antoniou, MP for Kastoria, was appointed to fill the vacant position.

The first session of the preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m..
