Pavlos de Grece: My name is clear, I am just an ordinary citizen – His response to being called “Prince” in Mani

"How someone chooses to address me is their own business," he said regarding the title used by the Mayor of Mani in Areopoli

Newsroom March 20 11:49

Pavlos de Grece gave his own response to the controversy sparked by the “Prince” title attributed to him by the Mayor of East Mani, Petros Andreakos, during his visit to Areopoli for the celebrations marking the start of the 1821 revolution.

“It is clear that my name is Pavlos de Grez,” he emphasized, speaking to ANT1, clarifying that everyone has the right to call him whatever they wish, although he personally considers himself an ordinary citizen.

“I don’t want to say anything more. How someone chooses to address me is their own business. My name is clear—I am just an ordinary citizen,” he said, adding: “We are in a new phase now. Whatever happened, happened, and it will pass… I hope no issues arise, and we can continue our lives as usual.”

It should be noted that Mr. Andreakos, who is now facing legal proceedings, not only addressed him as “Prince” but also justified the title, saying:

“Dear compatriots, believing that we are here among only Greeks, everyone has the right to believe what they want. However, I personally believe that titles never die. Titles follow a person throughout their life. So, I welcome Prince Pavlos.”
