The Mayor of Rhodes, Alexandros Koliadis, has ordered the suspension of duties for the five Urban Planning employees involved in a corruption network, as well as their referral to the Disciplinary Council. The decision was officially published on the DIAVGEIA transparency platform.
According to the announcement, all implicated officials have been suspended in accordance with the relevant procedures, and each case has been referred individually to the Disciplinary Council to proceed with their dismissal.
“We want transparency and integrity,” stated Mr. Koliadis, emphasizing that the heart of Rhodes has been affected by these revelations, as reported by the local news outlet Rodiaki.
Regarding the continuation of the Urban Planning Service’s operations, the mayor noted that decisions on this matter will be made at the start of next week.
Meanwhile, Rhodes Deputy Mayor Kostas Chalkias commented during a municipal council meeting: “What happened is not just unfortunate. It marks the beginning of a cleansing process aimed at eliminating such phenomena.”
