More departures are unfolding within PASOK, as two additional party officials step down shortly after the resignation of Sokratis Xynidis. Both had taken on roles within the party over the past two years.
The individuals in question are Marizeta Antonopoulou, who ran as a PASOK candidate in the 2024 European elections, and Dimitris Melidis, who served as Sector Head for Institutional Affairs.
Ms. Antonopoulou is leaving PASOK due to her disagreement with the party’s policy of autonomous political course—she supports a reunification of the progressive front and a joint electoral campaign among left-leaning parties in future national elections.
It is worth noting that both departing officials had previously been close associates of SYRIZA government ministers.
