It hasn’t been long since he retired his iconic No. 7 jersey for Olympiacos, and even less time since it was raised to the rafters of SEF.
Since then, Spanoulis has visited the stadium as head coach of Peristeri, but tonight (21:15), he will return leading a EuroLeague team for the first time.
During his visit, Spanoulis led Monaco’s practice at SEF, met with Olympiacos coach Giorgos Bartzokas and others, signed the club’s commemorative jerseys for its 100th anniversary, and spoke about the emotional return.
“It’s a beautiful feeling. So many familiar faces. I had amazing moments here, and I will always be grateful and blessed to have spent 11 years of my life here.
It’s an incredible feeling. My relationship with the fans and the club is beyond significant. It’s absolute, it’s forever, from both sides,” Spanoulis said.
