Theodoros Eleftheriadis, is considered a “guru” of football academies, having made significant contributions to Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, PAOK, and Greece’s youth national teams.
For the past year, Panathinaikos’ academy has been operating without a technical director, a situation that has hindered the club’s youth development efforts both on and off the pitch. The arrival of Takis Fyssas as a strategic planning advisor for the club has set things in motion, as the former Panathinaikos star will now oversee the club’s youth infrastructure.
The “Greens” appear to be turning to a tried-and-tested solution for the technical director role. Eleftheriadis, a respected figure in Greek youth football, has left a strong mark wherever he has worked, with his most recent stint at OFI.
At 56, Eleftheriadis is the clear frontrunner to fill this key position in Panathinaikos’ organizational structure. He previously held the same role at the club in the spring of 2017 but departed after a few months for personal reasons. His extensive experience includes roles at the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), Olympiacos, PAOK, and Iraklis.
