Showers and thunderstorms are expected across much of Greece today (Friday, March 28) in most of the country, with conditions continuing through the weekend and into early next week.
EMY forecasts that showers and thunderstorms will be locally heavy in the early hours of Friday in central Macedonia, by midday in eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the northeastern Aegean and in the evening in the southwestern Peloponnese.
The positive thing is that the African dust that has plagued us in recent days is gradually moving away.
The temperature will drop slightly and will not exceed 20 degrees Celsius, even in the south where in the previous days it had climbed even to 25 degrees.
In Athens we expect l few clouds, occasionally increasing. In the midday – afternoon hours, light local rain is likely. Winds will be westerly 3-4 Beaufort, while the temperature will be between 11 and 19 degrees Celsius.
In Thessaloniki, we expect today n precipitation today, with showers and occasional thunderstorms. The phenomena in the early morning hours will probably be intense. The temperature will be from 10 to 17 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday the weather will be unsettled across the country, with intermittent clouds and localised showers. Thunderstorms will occur in the Aegean Sea and after noon on the mainland and the Ionian islands.
The phenomena on the islands of the eastern Aegean, western Crete, until the morning hours in the southwestern Peloponnese and from the afternoon in the Dodecanese will probably be locally strong. A little snow will fall in the continental mountains.
Winds in the southern part of the country will blow west southwest 5 to 6 Beaufort, in the eastern parts of the Aegean south 4 to 6 Beaufort, while in other areas they will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort.
The weather will be mainly north-western and north-western Europe, with the winds in the north-western part of the island and north-western Europe in the north-western part.
The temperature will show a slight drop in maximum values. It will reach 15 to 16 degrees Celsius in the west, 17 to 18 degrees Celsius in the east and locally 19 degrees Celsius in the south.
On Sunday, intermittent clouds are expected throughout the country, with local rain or rain. Thunderstorms will mainly occur in the eastern parts of the Aegean (East Aegean islands and Dodecanese) and in the afternoon in the mainland.
A gradual improvement is expected in the west from the afternoon hours. A little snow will fall in the continental mountains.
