“Alarm” from German Intelligence Services about Russia’s war with NATO within the next 5 years

Reports in the German press refer to a report by the Federal Intelligence Service and the Armed Forces of the country - What the redeployment of Russian forces and investments in armaments show

“Alarm” from German Intelligence Services about Russia’s War with NATO within the Next 5 Years
The scenario of a war between Russia and NATO in the not-so-distant future has been repeatedly raised in recent times, mostly from the side of the Alliance, with the NATO Secretary-General, Mark Rutte, calling on Europe to “wake up.”

This time, it is Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) and the Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) that, according to information published by Bild, Süddeutsche Zeitung, WDR, and NDR, believe that Russia is preparing for a large-scale war with NATO, as it strengthens its military power and views the West as a systemic opponent.

The new report from the German services states that the Kremlin is prepared to use military means to achieve its objectives. The report emphasizes that by the end of the decade, Russia will have created all the necessary conditions for conducting a “large-scale conventional war” – and this is because Vladimir Putin’s ambitions are not limited to Ukraine.

On the other hand, Lithuania’s Intelligence Service (VSD) believes that Moscow is not yet capable of launching a full-scale war against NATO, but considers military action against one or more countries of the North Atlantic Alliance likely.

In the event that the war in Ukraine ends, a redeployment of Russian units is expected on the borders with NATO, while in the city of Murmansk, Russia has already deployed nuclear-powered submarines.

The number of personnel in the Russian armed forces is expected to increase to 1.5 million by 2026. Based on plans from 2022, personnel, weapon systems, and equipment on the borders with NATO will increase by 30% to 50%.
