A heavy veil of grief has fallen over amateur football in Piraeus following the tragic death of the young player, who collapsed on the field and took his last breath at the hospital.
The tragic incident occurred during halftime of the Atromitos Piraeus – Ikaros Kallitheas match at the Rentis stadium. According to soccerlive.gr, the young athlete began feeling unwell in the locker room during the break, and just minutes later, he collapsed.
The team doctor and club staff reacted immediately, attempting to revive him, even using a defibrillator. The 21-year-old was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, still having a pulse. Despite doctors’ desperate efforts for nearly an hour, they were unable to save his life.
The news of his death has shocked the football community, with friends, teammates, and sports officials expressing their deep sorrow over the sudden loss of the young athlete.
