Weather: A Three-Day Period with Strong Rains and Storms – The 7 Areas with Dangerous Conditions

Strong rains and storms are expected from Monday through Wednesday (April 2) across most areas in the eastern part of the country, with conditions being locally dangerous in seven areas.

Specifically, according to the emergency bulletin from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS), the weather will be locally dangerous:

A. In the Cyclades from Monday afternoon (March 31) until the early hours of Tuesday (April 1). B. In the Eastern Aegean Islands (mainly Samos, Ikaria, Chios) from Monday evening (March 31) until Tuesday afternoon (April 1). C. In the Dodecanese on Tuesday (April 1) from early morning until the evening. D. In Eastern Central Greece (including Attica), and Evia from Monday afternoon (March 31) until the early hours of Tuesday (April 1). E. In Thessaly and the Sporades from Tuesday morning (April 1) until the evening of the same day.

At the same time, meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis shared maps with the total rainfall forecast for Monday and Tuesday, as calculated by predictive systems.

“Beneficial rains, especially in areas that need them, without widespread extremes,” the meteorologist emphasized.

Detailed Weather Forecast for Monday, according to the HNMS

Increased cloud cover will be observed across the country with rain and sporadic thunderstorms, locally strong in most eastern areas. The weather will be locally dangerous from the afternoon in the Cyclades, and gradually in Eastern Central Greece, Evia, and the islands of the Eastern Aegean. A few snow showers will occur in the mountainous areas of Epirus and central Greece. The transport of African dust will also be favored in the southeastern part of the country.

Winds will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort in the west, central, and northern regions, gradually shifting to easterly directions up to 5 Beaufort. In other areas, southeast winds will blow at 5 to 6 Beaufort, reaching 7 to 8 Beaufort in the southeastern parts.

Temperatures will remain relatively stable. Most areas will reach 17 to 19°C, the southern islands will see 20°C, and locally in Crete, temperatures could reach 21 to 22°C.

MAKEDONIA, THRACE

Weather: Increased cloud cover with local rain and sporadic thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Morning visibility will be limited in some places. Winds: Variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and from the afternoon, easterly winds at 5 Beaufort in the east. Temperature: 7°C to 18°C, and in western Macedonia, 4°C to 13°C.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN CENTRAL GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: Passing cloud cover with local rain and sporadic thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Conditions will weaken by the evening. Snow will fall in the mountainous areas of Epirus and central Greece. Winds: Variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually shifting to easterly winds at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Temperature: 10°C to 18°C, 3-4 degrees lower in inland Epirus.

EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: Increased cloud cover with rain, and sporadic thunderstorms, mainly from noon. By the afternoon, conditions will be locally strong. Winds: Easterly winds at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and in the east, up to 5 Beaufort. Temperature: 9°C to 18°C.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Cloudy with rain and thunderstorms. From noon, conditions will be locally strong in the Cyclades. Winds: Easterly winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort, southeast winds at 5 to 6 Beaufort, and from the afternoon, 7 to 8 Beaufort in the eastern Cyclades. Temperature: 12°C to 18°C, locally in Crete, up to 21 to 22°C.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISES

Weather: Increased cloud cover with rain and sporadic thunderstorms. From the evening, in the Samos, Ikaria, Chios area, conditions will be strong. Winds: Easterly winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort, gradually increasing to 5 to 6 Beaufort in the southern parts. In the Dodecanese, southeast winds will reach 7 to 8 Beaufort by the morning. Temperature: 14°C to 20°C, 2 to 3 degrees lower in the northern parts.

THESSALY

Weather: Increased cloud cover with rain and sporadic thunderstorms. By the afternoon, conditions will be locally strong. Winds: Variable at 2 to 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to easterly winds at 4 Beaufort. Temperature: 7°C to 17°C.

ATTICA

Weather: Increased cloud cover with local rain and sporadic thunderstorms, gradually becoming strong in some places by the afternoon. Winds: Variable at 2 to 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to easterly winds at 4 Beaufort. Temperature: 9°C to 18°C.
