PASOK’s Disciplinary Committee is set to convene on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to deliberate on the comments made by Katerina Batzeli concerning the party’s leadership.
As is known, two days after Ms. Batzeli’s remarks, Mr. Androulakis referred her to the party’s Committee on Ethics, Statutes, and Certification (EDEKAP), instructing its president, Nana Vryoni, to initiate the relevant procedures. According to sources, the committee is considering options ranging from reprimand to expulsion, although the PASOK leader has yet to make a public statement regarding the request for Ms. Batzeli’s disciplinary review.
Ms. Batzeli had described PASOK’s official statement on former SYRIZA minister Nikos Pappas as “toxic and mistaken.” The announcement from Charilaou Trikoupi had sparked a back-and-forth exchange of statements between SYRIZA’s Koumoundourou headquarters and PASOK’s central office.
“It is toxic and mistaken to claim that Mr. Androulakis is being pulled by his right lapel. However, PASOK, as an institutional and serious party, cannot slide into ND-style toxicity like ‘13-0’. The judiciary has decided. That should be the end of it. To adopt New Democracy’s language only confirms that someone is pulling you from the right,” Ms. Batzeli stated on Blue Sky, criticizing PASOK’s rhetoric on the matter.
