The message that “the government, even in these difficult times, guarantees that the national economy is ready to respond to the challenges by implementing the commitments to the citizens with the truth as an ally and more steadily on the path of fiscal stability“, was sent by Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his presentation at the meeting of the Government Economic Policy Council.

At the same time, he stressed that “fiscal stability and the acceleration of the reforms as they have been launched are more important than ever.”

Specifically regarding tariffs, the Prime Minister noted that “Greece insists on a unified response so that we can be more effective within the framework of the EU-27. We did not react immediately and in a spasmodic manner because we need to analyze how this will be done. In any case, we will fight to defend national interests.”

However, he added, “I am keeping my expectations low because we do not know how the US will react,” making specific reference to products such as oil, olives and feta cheese “which are not produced in the US and therefore, in my mind, imposing tariffs does not make sense.”
