Sani Festival returns this summer with Gloria Gaynor, Norah Jones & more music legends

With a 30-year legacy, the Sani Festival in Halkidiki continues to make music history

Newsroom April 10 10:30

With a rich history spanning over three decades, the iconic Sani Festival is once again setting the stage for a spectacular summer of sound on the enchanting hill of Sani, in Halkidiki, Greece. From July 12 to August 23, internationally acclaimed artists, Grammy-winning performers, and music legends from across the globe will come together for a celebration of musical brilliance under the stars.

As Greece’s premier privately-run music festival, Sani Festival has long carved out a reputation for hosting world-class acts across genres — and this year’s lineup is no exception. From jazz to soul, disco to Latin beats, the 2024 edition promises unforgettable moments, star power, and sonic journeys for every kind of music lover.

Kicking Off with Cuban Fire: Buena Vista All Stars

The festival opens on July 12 with the irresistible rhythms of the Buena Vista All Stars. Featuring founding members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, including Barbarito Torres, Demetrio Muñiz, and Manuel Machado, this powerhouse collective of Cuban virtuosos will ignite the stage with infectious energy and the timeless magic of Havana’s golden sound.

Norah Jones: An Intimate Jazz-Soul-Folk Experience

On July 18, Norah Jones — the multi-Grammy-winning American songstress with over 53 million albums sold — makes her long-awaited debut at Sani. Known for her velvety voice and genre-blending artistry, she’ll bring a soulful set rich in jazz, folk, and personal storytelling that promises to be both powerful and intimate.

The Queen of Disco, Gloria Gaynor, Arrives

On July 26, the Sani stage welcomes a true legend: Gloria Gaynor. Synonymous with empowerment and survival through her iconic anthem “I Will Survive,” Gaynor continues to captivate audiences with her charisma and powerhouse vocals. Her performance will be a defining moment in the festival’s history — a night of dance, nostalgia, and unapologetic diva energy.

Gipsy Kings: Back by Popular Demand

Following a phenomenal performance last year, the Gipsy Kings return on August 16 to do it all over again — flamenco guitars, dance floor-ready rhythms, and Mediterranean flair. Expect the hill of Sani to once again erupt into a joyful celebration of life, love, and music.

A Poetic Finale Honoring Lina Nikolakopoulou

Greek songwriting takes center stage in the festival’s grand finale, with a tribute to the beloved lyricist Lina Nikolakopoulou. Her songs — cherished by generations — will be brought to life by an all-star vocal ensemble featuring Glykeria, Pitsa Papadopoulou, Sofia Papazoglou, Theodoros Voutsikakis, Aspasia Stratigou, and Apostolos Kitsos. A special appearance by Manolis Mitsias and Serbian composer Kiki Lesendric adds a surprise cross-cultural note to this heartfelt evening.

From sun-drenched Cuban rhythms to late-night jazz serenades and disco anthems that have stood the test of time, Sani Festival 2024 is shaping up to be a must-attend celebration of global music culture in one of the most scenic corners of the Mediterranean.
