Starting July 1st, fines will begin for professionals who don’t properly maintain the new digital customer log. Anyone who fails to record a vehicle’s entry and exit will pay. Every missed entry, every incomplete or delayed submission, translates into a €100 fine. No warnings, no delays. While the measure is currently optional, from July 1st it becomes mandatory for repair shops, car washes, parking lots, and businesses that rent out cars and motorcycles.
A decision by the head of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) lays out in detail what qualifies as a violation: failure to register a license plate, delays in entry, or missing data. All are treated as a “failure to submit an informational declaration” and are fined under Article 53 of the new Tax Procedure Code. That’s €100 per violation—not in total, but per vehicle.
The first to be required to keep a digital customer log starting July 1st include repair shops, body shops, audio system and alarm installers, car washes, parking facilities, and companies renting cars, motorcycles, quads, mopeds, and all types of commercial vehicles. Exemptions include leasing companies, automated self-service stations, dealerships recording internal prep work on new vehicles, simple space rentals without supervision, work done on individual parts without a vehicle present, in-house business facilities, and mobile repair units that work on-site.
The digital log must include, without exception: the vehicle’s license plate, date and time of entry, type of service (one-time, recurring, ongoing), the customer’s tax ID number for recurring services, and the vehicle’s technical specifications (category, manufacturer). The type of service must be selected (with or without parts, for private use, free of charge, under warranty, or other), and, if applicable, the agreed payment or rental fee must be recorded.
AADE provides clear instructions: even if the vehicle leaves the facility to continue work elsewhere, that movement must be reported. If not, it counts as an omission. The declaration must be made in real time—the system doesn’t allow for delays. There’s no “I’ll enter it later” here. Every record counts, and every mistake costs.
