A serious traffic accident took place late on Holy Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Vasileos Georgiou II and Vasileos Konstantinou streets in Pangrati, resulting in the injury of three people and causing traffic disruptions in the area.
According to early reports, a private ambulance traveling along Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue in the direction of Hilton collided with a car coming out of Vasileos Georgiou II Street, coming from the Pangrati area. The collision caused the ambulance to veer off course and crash into a light pole on the median strip.
The impact brought the pole down, crushing two pedestrians who were walking in the area. Additionally, one person riding in the ambulance was injured, likely the companion of the patient the vehicle was transporting.
Due to the accident, traffic on Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue at the level of Eratosthenous Street and in the direction of Hilton was temporarily halted, with traffic police diverting vehicles to side roads.
The injured were transported to hospitals in Athens, while authorities are currently investigating the exact causes of the accident.
