Toronto’s Pearson International Airport was in disarray Thursday morning when Terminal 1 was evacuated due to a police operation following unconfirmed reports of a shooting incident.

Ontario police announced via a post on the X platform that roads leading to Terminal 1 departures have been closed due to a “police investigation”, urging people to avoid the area.

CP24 reporter Courtney Hills posted video from the scene, which captured a heavy police presence and traffic congestion. According to her, an eyewitness reported that “dozens of police officers arrived armed.”

So far, authorities have not officially confirmed whether there was an armed incident, and the operation continues with passengers remaining on standby and concerned.
