“By decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and based on humanitarian considerations, on the days of the 80th anniversary of Victory, the Russian side is declaring a ceasefire. During this period, all military operations will be suspended,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

Russia believes that Ukraine should also follow suit and declare a ceasefire for the 80th anniversary of Victory, according to the Kremlin.

“The Russian side once again declares its readiness for peace talks without preconditions, aiming to address the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis, as well as for constructive cooperation with international partners,” the statement added.
