Just two days after the news broke that the US president, Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed to meet, during a brief conversation on the sidelines of Pope Francis’ funeral, the Commission spokeswoman, at today’s press conference, stressed that there was no specific date for the meeting.
“At the moment, we do not have a specific date for such a meeting,” said Paola Pinot, a spokeswoman for the European Commission, in response to a question. According to her, the meeting will take place at the “appropriate time,” and she said there are a number of issues on the table.
“We are mainly thinking about tariffs, and you know, discussions are going on. So when the right time comes for a discussion and an agreement at the level of the two presidents, at the highest level between the United States and the European Union, then it will be the right time for us to meet,” Pinault said.
