The Hellenic Police (ELAS) proceeded with the arrest of a 47-year-old Israeli man accused of assaulting a Greek businessman at a restaurant in Glyfada.
According to reports, the Israeli man was arrested in Marousi.
The same sources say that following his arrest, the Israeli claimed that the Greek businessman who was beaten owes him money.
The Complaint That Led to the Arrest
The businessman, active in the field of solar panels, reported being brutally beaten by five thugs allegedly sent by his former Israeli associate, in an attempt to force him to abandon financial claims worth millions of euros.
The businessman, who owns a photovoltaic park manufacturing plant in Komotini, had long been involved in a fierce legal dispute with an Israeli family, claiming — as he told police — large sums of money from their past partnership.
On Monday afternoon, the Israeli proposed a meeting at a well-known Cretan restaurant in Glyfada, supposedly to settle their differences out of court. The Greek businessman attended the meeting, unaware — as it turned out — of the trap set for him.
“We sat in a quiet spot, away from the crowd, and started to talk,” he told police. Suddenly, according to his account, five large-built men entered the restaurant, surrounded him, and along with the Israeli, began to threaten him directly.
The victim revealed that one of the men even showed him a gun, demanding he sign a series of documents relinquishing all financial claims and declaring he was not owed a single euro. When he refused, a violent attack followed.
They kicked him in the ribs and punched him in the face until he gave in. “I feared for my life and was forced to sign,” he told the police.
Despite his injuries, including serious facial trauma, he immediately went to the Glyfada Police Department and later to the Attica Security Division, where he filed a complaint and described the ordeal in detail. He was then taken to the hospital for medical care.
