The police have arrested her 21-year-old son and a nephew. The woman’s body was covered with a sheet and a blanket.
At the scene on Leonidou Street, police and an EKAB ambulance responded, and a forensic examiner is expected to arrive.
The murder occurred around 5 a.m. and was discovered in the afternoon when the two young men, the son and nephew, attempted to move her body but were noticed by neighbors who then alerted the police. It has been reported that the nephew was not involved in the murder but helped his cousin in an attempt to transport and hide the body. The mother and son had moved into the house on Leonidou Street approximately three months ago.
“I heard a noise and went outside and saw the police. (…) I later found out it was a murder. I don’t know the family. Because I have a dog, I saw them passing by with their dogs. She was a calm, quiet woman who had never caused any trouble. I was upset, seeing a mother leave her son’s hands… I got chills,” said a resident of the area.
“Someone called the authorities, the DIAS team arrived, and they took them away. They found them immediately,” said another resident.
