The Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) announced the details of the Greece Women’s National Team preparations ahead of the major EuroBasket 2025 tournament, which will be held at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) from June 18 to June 29. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday (May 6) at the Ergani Indoor Hall, while from May 19 to May 28, the national team will continue their preparations in Ioannina.
For the first time in its history, the Greek national team will have a naturalized player, Robin Parks, who is expected to acquire Greek citizenship. She is 32 years old, plays as a forward, and can cover three positions: shooting guard, small forward, and power forward. She will provide valuable versatility for Greece’s head coach, Petros Prekas, and according to Gazzetta’s sources, she will be playing for Athenakos starting next season.
Preparing for the National Team and Athenakos
Gazzetta’s information also states that as soon as possible — possibly even today, Wednesday (May 14) — after coordinated efforts by the federation, the American player will receive her passport from the Greek Consulate in New York. As a Greek citizen, she will strengthen Athenakos from next year, which reached the finals of the Women’s A1 League this season.
This player was previously with Famila Schio two years ago, under coaches Giorgos Dikaioulakos (the most successful Greek women’s basketball coach) and Petros Prekas (coach of the Greek Women’s National Team and assistant coach at an Italian team), who both led their teams to victory in Italy this year. In the season before last with Schio, she averaged 10.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague Women.
She will offer many solutions to the national team in the significant tournament organized by Greece, especially considering the notable absences of Elena Tsineke and Anna-Niki Stamolamprou, two players who have been pillars in previous Greece matches.
Her Career and the WNBA
She spent four years at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she impressed during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons with averages of 18.7 and 21.6 points respectively. In the 2014-15 season, she played in Spain with Gran Canaria (18.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game), and then played for Prometei, Sant Adrià, Valencia, and Zaragoza.
She experienced her WNBA dream with the Chicago Sky in the 2023-24 season. In 40 games, she averaged 4 points and 1.6 rebounds in the regular season, with 2.5 points and 2 rebounds per game in the playoffs.
This season, she played for Elmak Konut, which finished 4th in Turkey.
Closing
The first phase of EuroBasket Women 2025 will take place from June 18 to June 22 in Piraeus, Brno, Bologna, and Hamburg, while the final phase will be held at SEF.
