“We are very pleased today, as after holding back and not increasing the pricesof shipping tickets, as we had promised and committed, today there were announcements on what to do with the speedboats and the reduction of up to 32% in ticket prices for the Greek family, but also for groups of three or more people,” said Vassilis Kikilias from Spetses.
“And this is very important for us, because it concerns the comparative majority of our island destinations and shows that we care and support the Greek family, our travelers, our islanders and the whole world that has expectations to have, this year, a very strong tourist season and more revenue for Greeks at all levels. Once again, we welcome this development,” he added.
It is recalled that due to the EU obligation for all ships to use “green” fuel, which is more expensive, from May 1, shipping companies had announced increases in ticket prices by 12%- 15%.
In order to contain prices for travellers and to avoid these increases, the government has reduced port fees by 50%. This achieved the goal of not making the increases earlier this month, and today the market announced reductions of up to 32% on tickets for high-speed vessels already using green fuel. The reductions announced are for families and groups of three or more people.
