The countdown has begun for this year’s Acropolis Rally, with the start taking place on June 26 at the Panathinaiko Stadium.
Today, the official press conference for the Acropolis Rally was held at the Zappeion, with the Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis, noting that on the same day, with a start at 18.05, the 1.5-kilometre-long ultra-special route will take place at the Zappeion, with free admission for the public. The start of the superhighway will take place next to the statue of Myron’s Discobolus, while the route followed by vehicles will pass through Vasileos Konstantinou and Vassilissis Olga to end at Zappeion. Vroutsis stressed that “the superhighway is not just an introduction. It is the showcase of the race, the showcase of Greece.”
“Thursday, June 26, the superspeedway of the Rally of the Gods is here, in the centre of Athens. Athens is putting on its festive clothes, we start from Kallimarmaro, Olympic Zeus poles and Zappeion. I think the whole planet will be talking about this superhighway,” says Athens Mayor Charis Dukas.
The regional governor of Attica Nikos Hardalias noted that the Region of Attica is always a supporter of these events as “we deeply believe in the values of sport, in extroversion, in their connection with culture and the tourist identity of each region.”
It is recalled that the “heart” of the Acropolis Rally will, however, beat at the site of the Lamia Panhellenic Exhibition, which will host the race until June 29. The race will include 17 special stages and 341.43 racing kilometres.
