The best restaurants for 2025 were revealed during the 8th FNL Best Restaurant Awards ceremony, which took place on Monday (May 19) at the packed "Ioannis Despotopoulos" amphitheater of the Athens Conservatory

Newsroom May 22 08:37

A total of 263 restaurants from across the country were recognized for their excellence, forming the elite list of the Greek culinary scene.

Nancy Zabetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos hosted the event for the first time. Panos Deligiannis, founder of The Food and Leisure Guide and creator of the awards, took the stage to welcome the attendees and highlight the significance of the event.

FNL Awards: The Best Restaurants for 2025

This year’s ceremony highlighted restaurants from every corner of Greece, with awards reflecting high quality, innovation, and the philosophy that defines modern Greek gastronomy. Etrusco in Corfu retained the top four-star rating for another year.

In the three-star category, Pelagos at Four Seasons Astir Palace and The Private Kitchen at Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino were upgraded, while culinary pillars like Botrini’s, Delta, Elements, Lauda, Mylos, Selene, Spondi, Squirrel, and Veritable held their ground.

In the two-star category, newcomers included Basegrill in Glyfada, Pharaoh, Makris Athens, and NYN ESTI at EMST. Overall, 62 restaurants received two stars—34 of them for the first time.

Additionally, 189 restaurants earned one star, while 25 were labeled as “newcomers” and 34 as “new entries”, demonstrating the dynamic and evolving landscape of Greek gastronomy.

The List 2025: Top 10 Destination Restaurants

This year’s “The List 2025” announced ten standout destination restaurants that are a must-visit:

  1. Pharaoh, Athens (No. 3 in 2024)
  2. Scorpios Mykonos, Mykonos
  3. Etrusco, Corfu (No. 2 in 2024)
  4. Manari, Athens

The Importance of Sustainability

This year, the special awards gained additional importance, enriched with new themes that spotlight key aspects of contemporary gastronomy. Among them, the Sustainability Award, presented in collaboration with Blue Marble, was awarded to the restaurant at Kir-Yianni Estate in Naousa, recognizing its pioneering role and unwavering commitment to sustainability.

Another significant milestone was the Greek Culinary Ambassador Award, given to Filippos Chronopoulos, chef at Palais Royal in Paris – the only Greek chef abroad with two Michelin stars. This award marks the outward-looking approach of the FNL Awards, highlighting their expansion to an international audience. The process has already begun with the addition of five esteemed international evaluators, including renowned journalists, influencers, and professionals from global institutions.

A Night of Celebration

The awards ceremony at the Athens Conservatory featured a more flexible flow and was broadcast live on FNL’s YouTube channel for the first time, allowing more food lovers to watch in real-time. At the event’s entrance, NBG Pay welcomed attendees with information about its services and a special offer for the award-winning restaurants.

The traditional food party followed in the colonnade of the Athens Conservatory. Highlights included a Champagne bar by Moët & Chandon, cocktails from The Macallan and Campari, wines by Chateau d’Esclans, NOAM beer, and Taf coffee, accompanying the delicious dishes by participating chefs. Trofelia presented its own Spanish Corner, while the buffets were curated by award-winning NYN ESTI, Patio, and Beefbar Athens. Desserts were handled by Alexandros Koufas and the Hotel Grande Bretagne. Notably, beer and wine were served in Riedel glasses, and a grand display was hosted in the amphitheater with an impressive array of wine coolers by Masterzen.

The murders that changed the map of the Greek Mafia: The bloody path that started from the chief godfather Stefanakos and reached up to Zambounis who was gassed with 97 bullets

Seven years ago, a leading member belonging to one of the five groups that at that time controlled the fate of the Greek Mafia, decided to "change" - Since then we count thirty-four murders involving leading members such as the "Godfather of the Godfathers", Yannis Skaftouros, Kapes and most recently Zambounis
