Mitsotakis: New Democracy will propose the revision of the article on the permanency of public servants

"Israel must stop military operations so that humanitarian aid can be restored," said the Prime Minister in an interview with SKAI radio

“What is happening in Gaza is unjustifiable and unacceptable,” emphasized Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview on SKAI radio, noting that “we have clearly supported the need for an immediate ceasefire.”

Mitsotakis: ND will propose revising the article on the permanent status of civil servants

Speaking on SKAI radio, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said: “New Democracy will propose the revision of the article on the permanence of public sector employees.”

The Prime Minister emphasized: “Permanence cannot function as a force of inertia. If we have a civil servant who is structurally and systematically inadequate in terms of performance, then a supervisor should be able to take the necessary actions. In certain votes, we may need 180 votes, so we are seeking cooperation with other parties. Meritocracy must be connected to public sector performance.”

“Israel must stop military operations so humanitarian aid can be restored”

“It is unjustifiable and unacceptable what is happening in Gaza,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed in an interview with SKAI radio, noting that “we have clearly taken a stand in favor of the need for an immediate ceasefire.”

“We have clearly taken a stand in favor of an immediate ceasefire and the full restoration of the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza. And I have no difficulty saying to you, Mr. Chiotis and Mr. Papadopoulos, that what has been happening in Gaza over the past few weeks, the past few days, is unjustifiable and unacceptable. Israel must immediately stop these operations and facilitate the efforts of the UN and other humanitarian organizations supporting the suffering population in Gaza so that the delivery of humanitarian aid, food, and medicine can be restored as soon as possible. I say this because some accuse us of being silent on these issues. We are not silent at all. And I must tell you,” he specifically stated on SKAI radio.

On Turkey and defense spending

Referring to Greek-Turkish relations, Mitsotakis said: “For the EU to establish a relationship with a third country, unanimity is required. It has been 30 years since the Casus Belli. We must directly ask our Turkish friends to remove it from the table. It is not acceptable to seek access to EU funding tools while simultaneously threatening an EU member state for exercising its legitimate rights. I will say this to President Erdoğan, with whom I have a good relationship. The High-Level Council with Turkey will take place,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, emphasizing that “Greek foreign policy operates based on a specific plan.”

He added: “We gave Chevron the opportunity to examine whether there are deposits. We published maps of the maritime spatial planning, thereby securing on paper the maximum potential limits of the Greek continental shelf. The position that the cable project should be indefinitely postponed is absolutely wrong.”

“The situation in universities is improving — though we’re not celebrating yet”

“The situation is improving, without ignoring the fact that there are still some outliers,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis about the state of Greek universities.

Mitsotakis: Yes to dialogue with farmers, no to unnecessary hardship for society – We will not give in to maximalism that leads outside the European framework

“There is no ongoing active occupation within a university campus. Universities must immediately establish safety protocols — they also bear responsibility. Last Thursday, I asked the rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens to do his job and take control of the occupied area that the police cleared — and he did. This is in the interest of both the rectors and the students who seek to be in a space of expression, as opposed to a logic of hooliganism that some have come to accept as the norm,” the Prime Minister said.
