A 27-year-old man is in serious condition after attempting to open the lid of a fuel tanker while smoking a cigarette, causing a powerful explosion at a petroleum plant in Gaziantep, Turkey.
Explosion Caught on Security Camera
The incident took place in the city’s industrial zone, where the man was reportedly trying to clean the inside of the tanker. With a lit cigarette still in his mouth, he opened the tanker lid, unknowingly igniting flammable vapors.
The result was a violent explosion that threw him several meters through the air, slamming him to the ground with force.
Colleagues on-site quickly rushed to his aid and called emergency services. The man was transported to a hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The moment of the explosion was captured on the facility’s security cameras, showing the dramatic sequence of events. Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding possible safety violations or charges.
