According to reports, the victim was a municipal employee working in waste collection. The incident happened at the intersection of Poseidonos and Kalamakiou Avenue, in the direction towards Piraeus.

Eyewitness accounts state that the taxi driver was speeding and attempted to overtake from the left. During the maneuver, the taxi crashed directly into the garbage truck. The woman was riding at the rear of the truck, in the standard position used by sanitation workers.

There was a passenger in the taxi who sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Red Cross Hospital by ambulance. The taxi driver was reportedly unharmed.
