A fire broke out shortly after noon on Wednesday, June 18, in the Agia Marina area of Grammatikou, prompting an immediate emergency response from the Fire Service.
According to official updates, 55 firefighters are currently engaged on the ground, supported by two specialized foot teams from the 1st EMODE unit, 15 fire engines, volunteer responders, three helicopters, and two aircraft. Additional assistance is provided by water tanker trucks from the Attica Region.
A 112 emergency alert has been sent to residents advising caution.
The Municipality of Marathon stated on social media:
“A fire has recently ignited near the Naval base in Agia Marina Grammatikou. The Fire Service is already on site, actively combating the blaze with personnel and equipment. Residents are strongly urged to strictly follow all instructions from Civil Protection and the Fire Service. Immediate updates will follow as the situation develops.”
