The Fire Service was alerted at noon, when shortly after 15:00 a fire broke out in the “Lefki” area of the Municipality of Almiros, causing extensive damage to crops and grassland.

The fire, according to initial information, broke out near the settlement of “Karavotsaki” and moved with speed towards the area of Profitis Elias, due to the weather conditions favorable for the fire, such as high temperature and winds.

Fires in olive groves – Immediate mobilization of forces

The fire burned oil trees and dry grasses, and caused concern among local residents as it was spreading rapidly. The flames briefly threatened rural properties, but the immediate intervention of the Fire Department prevented the worst.
