Weather: North winds gradually dissipate, temperature rises – New warm invasion at the weekend

Winds of up to 8 Beaufort in the Cyclades and Crete in the early morning hours - The forecast of EMY until Friday

North winds are weakening today and only at the beginning of the day, we will have only in the Southeastern Aegean Sea locally 7 to 8 Beaufort with a tendency to further weakening. However, the risk of fires remains high today, mainly in the eastern and southern parts of the country, namely in the Cyclades, Crete, Dodecanese, East Aegean and a part of Evia and East Attica.

According to meteorologists, ferry services will be able to operate normally in almost all areas today.

Temperatures will rise slightly. On the mainland, maximum values will be between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius, while on the islands it will reach 30 to 32 degrees.

For his part, meteorologist Nikos Kanteres, in a post on Facebook in which he reviewed the weather in June, estimates that “the first week of July comes with a few normal temperatures, while the first weekend of the month and on Monday a warm invasion is forecasted that will probably not last long”

Heavy winds, falling temperatures and localized showers yesterday Sunday

After 5 days of high temperatures, on Sunday 29/06 temperatures returned to normal levels, with the exception of the western parts of Greece, as well as areas with particular topographical and climatic characteristics, where the thermometer again exceeded 35 °C. The maximum temperature was recorded in Amphilochia (37.3 °C), followed by Menidi in Etoloakarnania (36.6 °C) and Lindos (36.2 °C).

Today’s weather

Sunshine is expected with a few, local clouds from midday, mainly in the mountains of the central and northern mainland.

The temperature in Western Macedonia will range from 17 to 31 degrees Celsius, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 19 to 36, in Thessaly, Epirus and Sterea from 20 to 36, in the Peloponnese from 21 to 37, in the Ionian islands from 20 to 33, in the North and East Aegean islands from 19 to 35, in the Cyclades from 21 to 30, in the Dodecanese from 25 to 33 and in Crete from 17 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Winds in the Central and North Aegean Sea will blow from northern directions from 4 to 6 Beaufort and from 3 to 5 Beaufort in the morning. In the South Aegean the winds will initially blow from northern directions 4 to 6 Beaufort but from the afternoon they will shift to west to northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea the winds will initially blow from eastern directions 2 to 4 Beaufort but from noon onwards they will become northwestern 2 to 4 Beaufort.

In Attica sunshine is expected. Winds will blow from the north 3 to 5 Beaufort. The temperature in the center of Athens will range from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius.

In the prefecture of Thessaloniki a few, local clouds are expected from noon. Winds will blow from variable directions from 2 to 4 Beaufort. The temperature in the center of Thessaloniki will range from 24 to 36 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Tuesday, July 1

Generally clear weather. Occasional clouds in the continental areas in the midday and afternoon hours, when local rain will occur in the mountains, mainly in eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

The winds will blow from the north from 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea locally 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly. It will reach 34 to 36 degrees Celsius in the Ionian Sea, the mainland, the eastern Aegean islands, the Dodecanese and southern Crete, and 37 to 38 degrees Celsius locally in the mainland, while in the rest of the island country it will not exceed 32 to 33 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Wednesday, July 2

The weather will be generally clear. Local clouds in central Macedonia and Thessaly in the morning hours when it may rain in central Macedonia. In the midday and afternoon hours clouds will develop on the mainland, local rain in the mountains and isolated thunderstorms in the northwestern mountains.

Winds in the west will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, in the east north 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly mainly in the east.

The weather will be mainly south-eastern and south-eastern in the south-east.

The weather on Thursday, July 3

Generally clear weather. A few occasional clouds in the midday and afternoon hours in the mountains of Macedonia and Epirus. Possibility of isolated rain in the mountains of Epirus.

Winds in the west will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, in the east north 4 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly.

The weather on Friday, July 4

The weather will be generally clear. A few clouds in the northwestern mountains during the midday and afternoon hours.
