The government is determined to protect minors from alcohol and tobacco products. The relevant bill, which provides for the sale of alcohol and cigarettes only with identification, otherwise, if a sale to minors is found, heavy penalties will be imposed, is being debated and voted on today by the plenary session of Parliament.
The basic provision of the bill provides for the presentation of a document certifying adulthood when it comes to the sale of alcohol or tobacco products.
This means that any point of sale, from mini-markets to kiosks, is prohibited from selling alcohol and tobacco products to children and teenagers, otherwise owners face severe penalties.
The same applies to owners of nightclubs, such as bars and clubs, if they sell alcohol to minors.
