The diplomatic route to resolving the conflict in Ukraine is preferable for the Russian side, with Moscow saying it is ready for negotiations in the wake of Trump‘s threats to impose tariffs on Russia and his willingness to allow Kiev to use long-range weapons.

“We need to focus on political and diplomatic work. The president of the Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that we are ready for negotiations and that we prefer the diplomatic route,” Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov told TASS.

Yesterday, during his meeting with Mark Rutte, Trump said he was “very unhappy” with Russia over the war in Ukraine. “We will impose very severe tariffs if we don’t reach an agreement in 50 days,” he said. He called them secondary tariffs and said they would be 100 percent. Trump stressed that he wants the war in Ukraine to end and added that he is “disappointed” in Russian President Vladimir Putin.
