A serious accident involving a man falling from a great height on Lycabettus was reported on Tuesday morning.
The tourist, believed to be 25 to 30 years old, fell into the void from the edge of the Agios Georgios courtyard, where a marble slab is placed. According to reports, he reportedly told the ambulance rescuers that he fell as he was trying to take a picture and was taken to the hospital in good condition.
According to eyewitnesses, he fell first onto the rocks below and then onto the pavement. People who were at the scene called 112, and a rapid response motorcycle of the ambulance service arrived at the site first, along with the fire brigade forces.
At the same time, police officers briefly cut off access to St George’s, while municipal police officers blocked the road from the theatre.
Firefighters, with rescue equipment and the assistance of the ambulance, approached the injured man and removed him from the scene.
To avoid further suffering, they used the cable car to hand him over to an ambulance.
