Andrew Cabot, husband of Christine Cabot, who starred in the viral video of the CEO of Astronomer at a Coldplay concert, broke his silence and clarified that their marriage was already over before the incident.
In a statement to People, the businessman and CEO of Privateer Rum confirmed that the couple “had split privately and amicably several weeks before the concert,” a spokesperson added: “The decision to divorce had been in the pipeline before that night.”
The line that caused a sensation, however, came from a message he sent to his first wife, Julia, shortly after the video was released: “Her life is none of my business,” he wrote, making it clear that he and Kristin were in the process of divorcing.
According to the Daily Mail, Kristin formally filed for divorce in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on August 13, less than a month after the incident. Court documents show that a mediation effort had been made before a final decision to separate was made.
Andrew, heir to a historic Boston family with a fortune estimated at around $15 billion, says today that he hopes “to put an end to the rumors and protect the family’s privacy.”
Despite the scandal, sources said Andrew has kept his cool, while other close acquaintances claimed the problems in the marriage had been going on for months. It’s worth noting that photos from last May showed Christine still wearing a wedding ring, alongside Andrew and his children from a previous marriage.
Andrew Cabot, who married Kristin in 2023, comes from a family of Boston’s old aristocracy, with a fortune estimated at around $15 billion.
The affair also had implications for Byron, who in two years as CEO of Astronomer had led the company to billions in deals. After the video was released, both he and Kristin were suspended and subsequently submitted their resignations.
Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan, left their home a few days after the concert, returning her wedding ring and deleting her social media.
Astronomer, trying to mitigate the damage, issued a statement, “Before this week, we were known as pioneers in DataOps. While attention has shifted elsewhere, our product and services remain unchanged.” The new CEO, Pete DeJoy, told LinkedIn, “The publicity has been unusual and surreal for our team; although we wouldn’t wish it on anyone, the company is now known around the world.”
