Multiple explosions were heard today in Doha, Qatar, eyewitnesses told Reuters.
The Israeli army confirmed that it launched an attack targeting senior Hamas officials in Qatar, but did not specify the exact location: “The army and the internal security service (Shin Bet) carried out a targeted strike against the senior leadership of the terrorist organization Hamas,” the military said in a statement.
“We attacked Hamas leadership in Qatar, including Khalil al-Hayya and Jabarin. We are awaiting the results of the strike,” an Israeli official told Channel 12.
The official, speaking to Channel 12, stated that U.S. President Donald Trump gave the green light for this Israeli attack in the Qatari capital.
Al Jazeera, citing a Hamas source, reported that the target of the Israeli strike was the organization’s negotiating team, which had been meeting in the Qatari capital.
