A major wildfire broke out on Saturday afternoon in a tourist area of Antalya, on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast, prompting hotel evacuations and putting authorities on high alert.

The fire started in the Belek region, where amateur videos captured dramatic scenes of nighttime hotel evacuations, with tourists being escorted away under the threat of the flames. The evacuation order was issued as gale-force winds fueled the fire, which quickly advanced toward tourist facilities.
Turkish media reported that another blaze ignited between the areas of Kundu and Belek, adding a new front to a chain of devastating wildfires that have been hitting Antalya province in recent days.
According to the local news outlet Antalya Hakkında, the wildfire threatened areas with strawberry greenhouses before moving toward the Mediterranean coast, raising the danger for tourist infrastructure and seaside residences.
