Severe weather with heavy rain, thunderstorms and local hail is forecast by EMY for Thursday (2/10) and Friday (3/10), according to an emergency bulletin of Hazardous Weather Phenomena issued on Wednesday noon.
According to EMY, Attica will also be hit from Thursday noon until the evening with heavy rainfall and possible hail.
The deterioration in weather is caused by cold air masses in the upper atmosphere of central Europe which, through the Adriatic, are “reaching” Greece.
As EMY notes, the phenomena will be particularly intense and more dangerous in the Ionian Islands (mainly Zakynthos, Kefalonia) and western and southern Peloponnese on Thursday until early afternoon. Strong phenomena will also affect central Macedonia from Thursday afternoon until the early hours of Friday.
Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the islands of the Eastern Aegean will be affected on Friday until midday, while the Dodecanese will experience more severe conditions on Friday from early morning until the afternoon.
