The prosecutor of the Supreme Court Konstantinos Tzavelas was visited by the head of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office Laura Kovesi.

The meeting lasted about 15 minutes and Ms. Kovesi initially asked for an increase in the number of organic positions for Greek delegated prosecutors, a request she had previously made to Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis.

At the same time, she also asked to be given the opportunity to renew the secondment of certain Greek euro prosecutors whose term of office expires and not upon the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), as provided for by Greek law.

It should be noted that the Greek prosecution authorities have no right of disciplinary control over possible negative actions or behaviour of Greek Europrosecutors. However, Ms. Kovesi requested to have the possibility to extend that term of Greek Europrosecutors without the mediation and approval of the ACA.
