The first “double week” of the Euroleague ends for Panathinaikos with a second home match, as tomorrow (Friday, 3/10, 21:15) they host Barcelona, aiming for a 2/2 start.
The only question mark for the Greens is the presence of Cedi Osman. As revealed by coach Ergin Ataman, the Turkish forward trained normally and significantly increased his chances of playing.
Ataman’s statements in detail:
- On the upcoming game against Barça:
“They are coming from a big defeat, but they have a very strong roster and very experienced players. In atmospheres like OAKA, such experienced players arrive with a very strong mentality.
We must be ready for a tough game and have the right mindset. Matches against Barcelona are always difficult. I remember last year we won in the last second, and this will be a very tough game.”
- On whether Osman will play:
“Cedi Osman had one training session, and tomorrow morning we’ll see his condition and decide after the last practice.” - On Panathinaikos’ preparation:
“Of course, we must work together, start to understand each other, and better grasp how to handle certain defensive situations and improve our timing.
Offensively, we have some players who have been playing together for years and know how to do it. For some, this is the third year, and it’s more comfortable for them. But we also have new players, and they must adapt their game to the team, just as the team must adapt to their game.”
