This is Hilton’s new luxury hotel Conrad Corfu

In Corfu, a resort is preparing to open in May 2026 that aspires to redefine the concept of Mediterranean hospitality

Newsroom October 2 04:36

The model behind Conrad Corfu is an example of the merging of the international with the local. On one side is Hilton, a hospitality giant, with Conrad being the group’s leading luxury brand. On the other hand, the Cretan-born Trouli family, who own the property through Numo Corfu, brings something that no international group can buy: an authentic understanding of Greek culture and a passion for hospitality that stems from the land itself.

This partnership has already been tested and proven successful at the Royal Senses Resort in Crete. Now, with 136 rooms, many with private pools and views of the Ionian Sea, Conrad Corfu represents the evolution of this model. Hilton offers the network, expertise, and access to the Hilton Honors loyalty program. The Troulis family offers something more intangible but equally valuable: the soul.

Observing the resort spaces, even just through images, it immediately becomes clear that the design is not merely functional. It is storytelling. The neoclassical elegance of Corfu’s Old Town, the nostalgic glamour of the 1960s, the deeply rooted local heritage—all merge into an aesthetic that is at once retro and ultra-modern: two-story villas with private pools, three heated swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), a wellness and spa center surrounded by gardens and water features.

Its three restaurants—Aperto A La Carte, with Mediterranean-Italian cuisine; the Kumquat Main Restaurant, honoring Ionian tradition; and The Coast Pool Restaurant-Bar, which transforms from a relaxed daytime venue into a stylish evening destination—together offer a rich tapestry of experiences. The Kids’ Club, designed in collaboration with the specialized Worldwide Kids, draws inspiration from nature, featuring wooden structures and carefully curated activities. But the essence of the design lies in the way the resort engages in dialogue with its surroundings.

The challenge of overtourism and the response of sustainable luxury

Conrad Corfu opens at a critical moment for Corfu. Like many popular Mediterranean destinations, the island faces the pressures of overtourism: infrastructure strain, depletion of natural resources, and threats to cultural heritage. Local authorities have already decided on a strategic shift: moving away from mass tourism and toward a more sustainable, higher-quality luxury tourism model.

It is here that Conrad Corfu aims to act as a catalyst. The model—fewer visitors with higher spending—maximizes economic benefits for the local community while minimizing the environmental footprint. Conrad Corfu is part of Hilton’s broader strategy in Greece, with its sister project Conrad Athens The Ilisian—the transformation of the historic Hilton Athens—focusing on urban luxury.

Key features of Conrad Corfu:

  • 136 rooms, many with private pools and Ionian Sea views
  • Three restaurants (Mediterranean, Ionian, and poolside fine dining)
  • Three heated pools (indoor and outdoor)
  • Spa and wellness center
  • Nature-inspired Kids’ Club created with Worldwide Kids

Conrad Corfu will open in May 2026 in the Molos area of Corfu, about 40 kilometers from the island’s international airport.
