Tom Holland has confirmed his engagement to Zendaya in the sweetest way. The British actor recently revealed that his Spider-Man co-star is no longer his “girlfriend,” but now his “fiancée.”
In a panel excerpt, a journalist told Holland about a recent event:
“I brought my daughter, and she met your girlfriend. I was father of the year.”
Holland laughed and replied: “Fiancée.”
Fans on social media praised Holland’s affectionate comment about Zendaya.
One wrote on X: “The upgrade from girlfriend to fiancée… new levels of love unlocked.” Another said: “I love how proud he is to call her his fiancée. That’s real love.” A third added: “I love their relationship.” Someone else commented: “Zendaya is so lucky. She won.”
The couple’s engagement was first revealed in January, when Holland’s father, Dominic Holland, disclosed that the proposal happened during the 2024 holiday season.
“As you will know by now, Tom was incredibly well prepared,” Dominic wrote in a Patreon post. “He had bought the ring. He had spoken to her father and gotten permission. Tom had planned everything—when, where, how, what he would say, what he would wear.”
After the proposal, Zendaya debuted her engagement ring on the red carpet at the Golden Globes 2025 in January, wearing a stunning five-carat diamond.
Holland and Zendaya first sparked dating rumors back in 2017, when they co-starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming. They kept their relationship private for years until they were spotted kissing in a car in Los Angeles in July 2021.

In September 2023, Zendaya denied being engaged to Holland after an Instagram Story sparked speculation when a ring was visible.
“I can’t post anything,” she said in a video she later deleted. “I posted it for my hat. Not for the ring on my right hand, seriously now. Do you think that’s how I’d announce the news? Really, what do you think!” she added, laughing.
Throughout the years, the two stars have tried to keep their private lives as discreet as possible. Earlier this year, Holland explained why he doesn’t walk red carpets with his future wife:
“Because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment. And if we go together, then it becomes about us,” he said in an interview with Men’s Health.
The Uncharted star also said he wants a quieter life once he starts a family:
“When I have kids, you won’t see me in movies again. Golf and fatherhood. And I’ll just disappear off the face of the earth,” he declared.
