Stable Weather Continues — Local Showers and Below-Average Temperatures
Stable weather conditions will continue today, with showers persisting in several parts of the country and temperatures remaining below seasonal averages. Locally strong phenomena are expected mainly in the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese, while gusty northwesterly winds will prevail in the Ionian Sea and strong winds in the Aegean.
According to Star meteorologist and former EMY director Thodoris Kolydas, rainfall will continue “with a generally mild and beneficial character,” while temperatures will stay below normal “without any notable cold outbreak.”
“The 2025–2026 hydrological year begins with sufficient soil moisture and encouraging signs for groundwater reserves,” Kolydas noted. “Autumn has started just as it should — with rains that revive nature and temperatures reminding us that the year’s cycle is returning to balance.”
On X (Twitter), he added:
“Showers continue to be generally smooth and beneficial, and temperatures remain below normal, without any cold invasion. The new hydrological year starts with good soil moisture and optimistic signs.”
Ziakopoulou: Gradual Improvement from Midweek
According to ERT meteorologist Nikoleta Ziakopoulou, the low-pressure system will start moving eastward, but showers will persist over the Aegean and eastern mainland. Weather in the rest of the country will gradually improve, with west-northwest winds up to 7 Beaufort and no significant change in temperature.
From Thursday and Friday, a noticeable improvement is expected: winds will weaken, temperatures will rise, and sunshine will return — signaling the arrival of a mild autumn weekend.
Areas with the Heaviest Rain
The Ionian Islands, western mainland, Thrace, and the Peloponnese were the regions most affected by the recent bad weather until 10:00 p.m. on Monday (06/10).
Data from the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr shows that Pyrgos, Ilia, recorded the highest rainfall in the country at 71 millimeters.
